Because of its great experience, Mirage Outfitter team has come to develop a high quality package for fall hunt. Although fall hunt legally takes place from August 1 to October 31, we only begin our operations on August 26. This hunt is performed in zone number 23, a place solely accessible by plane.
Our hunting camps are strategically positioned from North to South between the 55th and 58th parallel, in the western end of Northern Québec. Only a few outfitters have access to this hunting ground. We hunt in the migration-route of caribou from the Leaf River herd.
The hunting camps are comfortable and well equipped. Among other things, the camps have a dining room, separate rooms, running water, a lavatory, an interior shower with hot water, electricity via a generator, and an oil heating system. The communication between the hunting camps and the base is made possible through a radio high frequency and a mobile satellite phone.
We also have some ''mobile''camps made of prospector tents with a wodden floor. It is possible that customers will be flown directly to those camps if we feel that it is the best location for a succesful hunt.
We can accommodate a maximum of 12 hunters per hunting camp. For fall hunt, convenient ways of moving on the hunting ground are: walking, using boat or all-terrain vehicles. The method chosen can be up to the hunter but generally depends on caribou's movements in the hunting camp vicinity. The schedule of the day is determined by the guide and approved by the hunters.
It a hunter wounds an animal with an arrow, he/she will have to use one of his /her transport tags. He/she will then only have one caribou left to hunt.
